Holiday Rentals - Can I let my property? Our first months Feature is in fact a short introduction to one of the hot topics of the moment - the whole issue of holiday rentals in Mallorca, and most importantly the legal position if you market and let your property on weekly or fortnightly tenancies to, essentially, tourists. There has been a lot of recent press coverage about the legislation covering this sector of the market and the recently closed window for owners of property to officially register their properties. The situation appears to be that if you do not have a licence you are not permitted to let your property commercially (i.e. it is OK to family and friends) and that if you do so you could land yourself with a big fine. So where does that leave the thousands of property owners that have bought property to let or at least want to do some lettings to cover costs? What do you have to do to register your property? Are there any valuation implications for properties with or without a licence? What are the implications of letting "illegally"? Is there any way of letting your property legally without the property being registered? These any many other questions will be answered next month when we will team up with our legal partners to give you a detailed insight to this important topic and how to operate legally under this legislation. .
